Constant Flow of Light

An animation by Simon Ray

A snatch of video shot from a train rushing through the East Lothian landscape between Edinburgh and North Berwick - captured in seconds. Each video frame extracted and used as source material for a painting. The hundreds of paintings scanned and combined to reconstitute the video - a flow of light both fleeing and slow.

The film and paintings were exhibited at the Royal Scottish Academy as part of the group exhibition VAS:T
